Manus said it would “soon resume operating as an independent company” as part of its separation from Meta.[1][2]
China’s National Development and Reform Commission instructed Meta and Manus in April to withdraw the transaction after the deal drew scrutiny under Chinese foreign-investment rules; CNBC valued the acquisition at $2 billion, while Reuters described it as worth more than $2 billion.[1][2]
Manus said the data-deletion step was required for its transition back to independence and compliance with regulatory requirements in specific jurisdictions.[2] The company said affected users would be notified through its app and by email and could back up their data before deletion.[2]
