The Babylon Bee challenges New Mexico AI satire disclaimer law
[edit]The Babylon Bee filed The Babylon Bee v. Castillo in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico, challenging HB 182 under the First and Fourteenth Amendments.[4]
The complaint alleges that the statute unlawfully compels warning labels on AI-generated political satire and parody, and ADF says violations can carry fines of up to $20,000.[4][3]
The Bee seeks declaratory and injunctive relief barring enforcement of the challenged provisions.[4]

Manus resumes independence as Meta acquisition unwinds
[edit]Manus said it would “soon resume operating as an independent company” as part of its separation from Meta.[1][2]
China’s National Development and Reform Commission instructed Meta and Manus in April to withdraw the transaction after the deal drew scrutiny under Chinese foreign-investment rules; CNBC valued the acquisition at $2 billion, while Reuters described it as worth more than $2 billion.[1][2]
Manus said the data-deletion step was required for its transition back to independence and compliance with regulatory requirements in specific jurisdictions.[2] The company said affected users would be notified through its app and by email and could back up their data before deletion.[2]
