The bill would prevent automated systems from making determinations involving medical judgment and would require denials based on medical necessity to be made by a licensed health professional with appropriate expertise.<ref name="landsman-dnai" /> Insurers could still use AI to assist claims processing, but the bill would require disclosure of that use in the administrative record and independent review of each patient’s circumstances by a health professional.<ref name="landsman-dnai" />
