==Background== The [[America's AI Action Plan]] released in July 2025 identified expansion of National Laboratories' AI capabilities and AI-for-science as key federal priorities. The Genesis Mission implements this commitment, directing the Department of Energy's network of 17 national laboratories β including Argonne, Oak Ridge, Lawrence Berkeley, and Sandia β to serve as the organizational backbone of a coordinated national AI-for-science effort.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.energy.gov/articles/energy-department-launches-genesis-mission-transform-american-science-and-innovation|title=Energy Department Launches 'Genesis Mission'|publisher=Department of Energy|date=2025}}</ref> The initiative was designed to leverage the United States' existing advantages in world-class supercomputing infrastructure, unique scientific datasets accumulated over decades, and the concentration of elite scientific talent at the national laboratories and partner universities.
